Anatomy

  • PIMS , Walayar, Department of Anatomy was established in 2023.
  • Primarily a teaching department and responsible for teaching anatomy and guiding 150 Medical, 50 BSc Nursing and paramedical students.
  • The Department try to inculcate a love for the subject by using different modalities of teaching and interactive sessions including innovative digital learning methods and make their tenure in the department informative, enjoyable and a memorable one.
  • Anatomy taught in different methods : Gross anatomy by cadaver dissection, Microanatomy by projection of histology slides and Embryology using charts and models
  • Teaching sessions by faculty lectures is given emphasis apart from the self directed learning skills that are developed as part of their professional development.

Faculty

  • The department is handled by 4 senior professors and 4 young and energetic professionals.

Infrastructure

  • Dissection Lab – The department consists of an excellent, spacious, and well-ventilated dissection hall with an attached cadaver storage and specimen handling room. Separate locker rooms are provided for girls and boys to keep their belongings.
  • A well-equipped Histology lab with around 90 microscopes and good-quality sections of all tissues.
  • Two well-spacious lecture halls with LCD projectors.
  • Two demo rooms with LCD projectors.
  • Museum with about 150 specimens including soft tissues, bones, and models.
  • Departmental library with a good collection of reference books.
