The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed at Palakkad Institute of Medical Sciences, Walayar, with an impactful awareness programme organized by the College of Physiotherapy. The event aimed to raise consciousness among students regarding the consequences of drug abuse and the role of young healthcare professionals in drug prevention efforts.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Lakshmikanth Head of Institution with lamp lighting ceremony, who extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, faculty, and students, and emphasized the importance of collective youth action against drug abuse.

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day 2025, the BPT students of College of physiotherapy actively participated in a meaningful awareness program organized on 31st May 2025, in collaboration with the PIMS Hospital Department of Respiratory & pulmonology & Community medicine and the support of the Principal, Administrative Officer, faculty members, and management.
The program was aimed at spreading awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and reinforcing the importance of a tobacco-free lifestyle, especially among youth. The event saw enthusiastic participation from BPT students.Pledge Ceremony: A formal No Tobacco Oath was taken by all participants, pledging to avoid tobacco use and to educate peers and the community about its dangers.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2025, the College of Physiotherapy, organized a special yoga awareness and practice session for students and staff. This year’s global theme, "Yoga for Self and Society", emphasizes the importance of individual well-being contributing to a healthier community.
The event commenced with a short inaugural address by the Principal, Administrative officer and Physical Education HOD Mr RENISH R highlighting the significance of integrating yoga into daily routine to improve mental, physical, and emotional health.
A total of 45 students and faculty members including Principal actively participated in the event.

As part of the observance to combat drug abuse and promote healthy lifestyles among the youth, the Palakkad District Administration organized a Youth Ideathon event on 20/06/2025 venue Govt Victoria college, Palakkad. The initiative aimed to harness the creativity and awareness of young minds by encouraging them to propose effective strategies to prevent drug abuse within the community.
A total of 12 students from the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B.P.T) program at our institution actively participated in the event, forming 4 individual groups. Each group presented unique and thoughtful ideas addressing different aspects of drug abuse prevention, including:

On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day 2025, PIMS Hospital Walayar, in collaboration with the college of Physiotherapy, organized a Blood Donation Campaign on 14th June 2025. The event was part of the global observance aimed at promoting voluntary blood donation and spreading awareness about its life-saving impact
A total of 5 BPT students voluntarily donated blood during the campaign. Their valuable contribution was appreciated, and they were awarded Certificates of Appreciation as a token of encouragement and gratitude.
As a future initiative, blood donation awareness classes will be conducted regularly to educate and motivate more students and staff to participate in this noble cause. The event marked a step forward in fostering a spirit of service and health consciousness among the campus community.
In addition, 44 students participated in an online voluntary blood donation pledge, affirming their commitment to donate blood and encourage others to do the same. This digital pledge initiative aimed to instill a lifelong sense of social responsibility and health awareness.
As part of the long-term vision, future events will include structured blood donation awareness classes for students and staff to deepen understanding and foster a culture of regular donation.

The World Environment Day was observed with great enthusiasm and commitment at Palakkad Institute of Medical Sciences, Walayar on 5th June 2025. The event was headed by the BPT student’s College Union Council, with active participation from faculty members, the Principal, Administrative Officer, and the Management. The day commenced with a plantation drive within the campus, where students, faculty, and dignitaries including the Principal and Administrative Officer took part in sapling plantation.
